The Eldercare Foundation needs to raise $1 million for programs, equipment and enhancements supporting older adults in our community; both at home and in residential care. Imagine needing help to get out of bed, dress, shower and feed yourself. Imagine not recognizing any of the people around you, even though they insist they are your family. Yesterday, you may have been the one people turned to for help, but today is a very different reality. How will you and your family cope? Who will help you?
How can we help provide a better quality of life for those who experience challenges to their physical and cognitive health? Community programs offering socialization, respite, education and safety help people stay in their own homes longer, and give their family caregivers much-needed resources. Therapy programs, specialized equipment and home-like enhancements provide extended care residents comfort, independence and a sense of belonging in their community. Supporting these programs and purchases are very real opportunities to make a difference in many lives.
