We need your help to ensure Eldercare can accommodate the growing requests for this vital service. It costs $750 to provide one senior with SAFE Lifeline for one year and, with COVID rates again on the rise, 20 new seniors were recently added to our waitlist


If your elderly loved one lived alone, like many do, how long would it take for someone to find them if they suffered a fall? Well, if they were lucky, maybe a couple of hours. But if they weren’t, it could be a couple of days or even longer!

A simple fall can have devastating effects on an older person and unfortunately, it often only takes a moment to change a life! Medical alert services, like SAFE Lifeline, that protect people living alone from the consequences of falling are wonderful and, in a perfect world, everyone would have access to such a service. Sadly, this is not today’s reality as many seniors are struggling to meet their basic financial needs for shelter, food, and medications on fixed incomes which are not keeping pace with ever increasing costs.

Among older adults, falls are the number one cause of fractures, hospital admissions for trauma, loss of independence, and injury deaths. Each year, 30-60% of seniors suffer a fall, through accident or due to health conditions that leave them dizzy, lightheaded or with poor eyesight.

Some of these clients have had to lie on the floor in pain for many hours. This is one of the worst nightmares family members have about their loved ones who are living alone at risk. Additional funding for this valuable service will help enormously to keep our clients safe in their own homes and possibly avoid preventable hospital admissions.
